They are the litter of kittens that were born so that the children could "witness the miracle of life" and are now 6 months old and living outside and having babies of their own. They are the cute little puppies who grew up too fast and became too big and too expensive to keep. They are the beloved pets of an elderly woman who requires hospice care and can no longer care for her animals. They are the unwanted, abandoned, abused and unfortunate. They are out there - we see them every day. The blame for their plight lies solely in the hands of humans. We owe it to them to do something.
